How do global events transform cities?

Belgrade hosted over 100 leaders from the event industry at the
Try Before You Buy – Belgrade by Conventa conference at Ložionica

The conference focused on the impact of major global events, such as the Olympic Games and the upcoming EXPO 2027 Belgrade, on local ecosystems, urban life, and the development potential of host cities.

The event was organized in partnership between Ložionica, Conventa, and DMC Vekol.

TBYB Belgrade positions Belgrade and the newly opened Ložionica — a unique innovation and creative industries hub — not only as an outstanding congress tourism destination, but as a dynamic environment where business, culture, and creativity intersect. We are proud that Ložionica was chosen as a partner for this first edition, as a natural meeting point for rethinking how business visitors experience our city,” said Ana Ilić, Director of Ložionica.

Gorazd Čad, co-founder of Conventa, added:

“Belgrade has a strong potential to become one of the key MICE destinations in this part of Europe. What sets it apart is not only its infrastructure, but also its authentic atmosphere, a highly professional local industry, and growing international interest. Events like this allow decision-makers to experience the destination first-hand, leading to concrete projects and new international events.”

Dejan Bogdanov, Managing Partner of DMC Vekol, highlighted:

Special guest Josh Stinton, one of the leading motivational keynote speakers, shared insights from his work on the 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Ceremonies, where he worked with over 1,100 staff, volunteers, and athletes.

By bringing together more than 100 international professionals and industry leaders, the event created a focused environment for meaningful partnerships and long-term collaboration.
