Legendary Actor Sean Bean Visits Robin Hood in Serbia Exhibition at Ložionica

Working with Serbian actors and the local film crew has been an extraordinary experience, says Bean

Sean Bean, the star of Game of Thrones, The Lord of the Rings, and the new television series Robin Hood, whose second season is currently being filmed in Serbia, visited the Robin Hood in Serbia exhibition at Ložionica, the region’s first center for creative industries and innovation.

During his visit, Bean toured the exhibition, which features original costumes, props, weapons, and set pieces from the series, filmed entirely in Serbia for MGM+ and Lionsgate.

The exhibition was attended by numerous members of the Robin Hood cast and creative team, including the series creators Jonathan English (Executive Producer, Writer, and Director) and John Glenn (Showrunner, Executive Producer, and Writer), as well as actors James Purefoy, Jack Patten, Jelena Gavrilović, Tamara Radovanović, Lauren McQueen, Matrija Gredić, Lydia Peckham, Erica Ford, Henry Rowley, Igor Skvarica, Graeme Thomas King, and many others.

During his visit, Sean Bean said:

Working with Serbian actors and the local film crew has truly been an extraordinary experience. The actors are exceptionally talented, while the supporting cast and the entire crew have demonstrated an outstanding level of professionalism and dedication.

The Serbian film crew is highly skilled, experienced, and exceptionally well trained. Everyone knows their job remarkably well, making every day on set both highly efficient and genuinely enjoyable. It has been a real pleasure coming to work each day alongside people who are so professional and committed to what they do.

Although I am not in every scene, every visit to the set and every opportunity to explore new filming locations has been a real pleasure. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the team and getting to know Serbia.

I was particularly impressed by the beautiful nature of Mount Rudnik. It is truly one of the most remarkable locations where we have filmed.

In the international television production Robin Hood, Bean portrays the Sheriff of Nottingham, one of the series’ central characters. His involvement further underlines the international significance of the production and the high quality of filmmaking taking place in Serbia.

Alongside Bean, the series stars Jack Patten as Robin Hood, Tamara Radovanović (Celene), Jelena Gavrilović (Godda), Matija Gredić (Drew), Mihajlo Lazić (Henry), Paul Leonard Murray (High Steward), and many others.

Sean Bean is one of Britain’s most celebrated film and television actors, with a career spanning more than four decades. After graduating from the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London, he established himself as one of the finest character actors of his generation through acclaimed performances on stage, television, and in film.

He achieved worldwide recognition through his iconic roles as Boromir in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Ned Stark in Game of Thrones, Odysseus in Troy, and Richard Sharpe in the acclaimed Sharpe series. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated remarkable versatility across historical epics, action films, contemporary dramas, and thrillers.

Jonathan English, the series creator and director, emphasized:

One of the most distinctive aspects of Robin Hood has been its reliance on Serbia’s outstanding production infrastructure. The country has provided extraordinary filming locations, highly professional crews, and a creative energy that has become an essential part of the series’ identity.

Speaking on the occasion of Sean Bean’s visit, Ana Ilić, Director of Ložionica, said:

It is a great honor and privilege for Ložionica to welcome Sean Bean, one of the world’s most distinguished actors, whose remarkable career has shaped some of the most iconic films and television productions of our time.

His visit is yet another confirmation that Serbia has firmly established itself as a destination for major international film and television productions. An increasing number of international filmmakers and studios recognize not only our authentic locations and world-class production infrastructure, but also the exceptional talent, professionalism, and creativity of Serbian film crews.

We believe that the outstanding experience of filming in Serbia, together with the genuine hospitality of our people, will continue to attract major international productions in the years ahead.

Through this exhibition, Ložionica proudly celebrates the people behind these remarkable achievements while contributing to the international promotion of Serbia as a country of exceptional creativity and world-class film production.
